January 02, 2018 (Tuesday) – Mannam Jayanti (Celebrated only in Kerala only) –

January 05, 2018 (Friday) – Guru Govind Singh Jayanti. A very important festival of Sikhism, celebrated all over in India.

January 12, 2018 (Friday) –Birth Day of Swami Vivekananda (celebrated specially in West Bengal)

January 14, 2018 (Sunday) – Three festivals are observed on the same day in different parts of India. They are

  1. Makar Sankranti – A welcome to new solar day in hindu calendar. It is celebrated all over in India.
  2. Pongal – Harvesting festival celebrated by Tamil inhabitants
  3. Lohri – Specially celebrated by Sikhs, punjabi’s and Hindus. It is celebrated to welcome the coming summer season and the declaration of winter solstice.

January 22, 2018 (Monday) – Vasant Panchami. The festive of Maa Saraswati. Parents do akshar abhyasam (religious way for initiating kids to write letters or alphabets)

January 23, 2018 (Tuesday) – Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti. Celebrating the birth date of Netaji.

January 26, 2018 (Friday) – 68thRepublic Day Celebration. Renowned for the R-day parade and a glorious ceremony exhibiting the enormous strength of Indian Armed force as well as diversity in Indian culture.
